Krajewska, mezzo-soprano,
has garnered numerous prizes, including the Giuseppe Verdi Prize at the
Palm Beach Opera Competition and first prizes at the Music Teachers
National Association competition, the Amici Competition,
MacAllister Opera Competition,
and the Rosa Ponselle Competition. She was also a winner at the Sembrich
Kochanska competition in New York and, most recently, at the New Jersey
State Opera Competition. She appeared with the Aspen Opera, Palm Beach
Opera, Des Moines Opera, Utah Opera, Chattanooga Opera, Opera Theater of
Connecticut, Yale Opera, Caramoor Festival, Poznan Spring Festival and
Vratislavia Cantans in Poland, Hartford and Waterbury Symphonies, Erie
Philharmonic, New Britain Symphony, the Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber
Orchestra, and the Hartford, New Britain, and New Haven Chorales. She
has also appeared in recital at the Lincoln Center Polish Festival, the
Festival of Russian Music in Amherst, and the Weimar Music Festival in
Germany. Ms. Krajewska made her Carnegie Hall debut in the Mozart Requiem
and her European debut as Carlotta in Donizetti’s Il Borgomastro di
Saardam at Belcanto Festival (Holland). Her
operatic credits include Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Suzuki in
Madam Buttherfly, Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, Der Trommer in Der
Kaiser von Atlantis, Angelina in Cenerentola, Nicklausse, and Gulietta
in Les Contes d’ Hoffmann, , Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors,
Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Pierotto
in Linda Chamounix, Laura in
Tchaikovsy’s Jolanta, Madelon in Andrea Chenier, and Myrthis in Cold
Sassy Tree. Monika
Krajewska holds a Master of Music degree from Yale University and a
Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Connecticut. Prior to
her coming to the United States, Ms. Krajewska studied both acting and
singing at the Paderewski Academy in Poland where she was featured in
the title role of Pupil in
Yonesco’s play “Lesson”. Future engagements include the title role in Cenerentola with Utah Opera, as wellas Carmen with Connecticut Lyric Opera.
Jurate Svedaite Born into an artistic family, Jurate's love of song began at an early age - by four she was singing along to her favorite operas, and by age twelve was performing throughout the Soviet Union as a soloist with the well-known Liepaitis girl's choir. After graduating from the English-language Salomeja Neris School, Jurate was accepted into the Lithuanian Music Academy, where she went on to receive her Bachelor's Degree in Operatic Performance and Concert Singing and her Master's Degree in Chamber Singing and Higher Vocal Instruction. She has performed as a soloist with the renown Lithuanian State Chamber Orchestra (S. Sondeckas cond.), the European Baroque Festival Opera and the Kaunas Chamber Orchestra, among others, and has performed the roles of Marguerite, Adina, Tatyana, Speranza and Amahl's Mother. Her
voice has been recognized by professionals and listeners alike as full
of color, passion and potential. Jurate is currently studying in New
York with former Metropolitan Opera soloist, Loretta DiFranco, and
teaches voice at the Thames Valley Music School in New London,
Connecticut.
