About the Soloists:
Ms.
Trina Renay has performed, throughout the U.S. and in five European
countries a range of lyric coloratura roles such as Adina, Gilda, Musetta,
Gretel, Juliette, and Lucia. She has appeared in leading roles with Opera
Company of Brooklyn, Connecticut Lyric Opera and St. Louis Union Opera.
Her orchestral appearances include Orchestra of Southern Finger Lakes,
Marietta Cheng conducting, and Baltimore Civic Orchestra, Bobby McFerrin
conducting.
She appeared recently with Maestro Sylveen in a concert with the Classical
Orchestra of Pila, Poland in 2009, and is due to return for appearances
with that group in the summer of 2010. A graduate of the Peabody
Conservatory, Ms. Renay gained professional training during a four year
residency at Tri-Cities Opera and later as a member of the Cincinnati
Opera Resident Artist Program. Ms. Renay is also known for heartfelt
sacred music performance, particularly in the hymn and spiritual
repertoire. She has had the honor of performing with amazing artists such
as Denyce Graves, Bobby McFerrin, Sandy Patti, Steven Crawford and Willie
A. Waters. She is recipient of the Richard F. Gold Career Grant from the
Shoshana Foundation in NYC. Currently residing in Los Angeles, California,
Ms. Renay is pursuing a diploma in Music Ministry and, as classical
artist, voiceover work in film and commercials. Her first CD of hymns and
spirituals, Gospel Opera – Songs of the Crow, is due to be released in
2010.
Mr.
Thomas Labadorf appeared in solo performances with Orchestras and
Bands around the country. His repertoire include works of Bassi, Britten,
Copland, Debussy, Mozart, Nielson, Rossini, and Weber; he premiered his
own transcription of Jorge Calandrelli's Concerto for Jazz Clarinet in New
London, CT, Los Angeles, CA, and at the Mid-West Band and Orchestra Clinic
in Chicago with the United States Coast Guard Band. Mr. Labadorf's
professional career began as clarinetist and bass clarinetist in the
Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of David Zinman where
he also performed under the batons of Aaron Copland and Karel Husa. He
taught in West Hartford and later Hebron public schools while continuing
to perform as clarinetist in local orchestras in Connecticut. He performed
as principal clarinetist with the Manchester Symphony, the Manchester
Gilbert and Sullivan Society, Eastern Connecticut Symphony and presently
performs as principal clarinetist with the New Britain and Waterbury
Symphonies. Mr. Labadorf can be heard on Albany Records with the
Connecticut Trio performing music of Ezra Laderman.
Maestro
Adrian Sylveen enjoys a performing career both in the US and in
Europe. He serves as Artistic Director of the Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber
Orchestra, the Connecticut Lyric Opera, and the Classical Orchestra of
Pila in Poland. An active soloist, he has performed concerts and recitals
in Poland, Switzerland, Germany, former Soviet Union, and the United
States. He is frequent guest conductor and soloist with several Polish
orchestras and concert halls; and as an educator he leads the Eastern CT
Symphony Youth Orchestra. Mr. Mackiewicz is a winner of prizes and awards
at competitions in Poland, and Taiwan, he participated in several
international Festivals such as Weimar, Lancut and others. Mr. Mackiewicz
graduated with distinction from the Paderewski Music Academy in Poznan,
Poland, and holds Master and post-Master degrees from the Yale University
School of Music. Maestro Mackiewicz was awarded several prestigious
scholarships and awards including “Primus Inter Pares” Award given by the
President of the Republic of Poland. He was awarded permanent US residence
for "Extraordinary Abilities in the Arts".
